We are excited to announce this new feature-rich version of our MES for discrete industries: Siemens Opcenter Execution Discrete 3.0.
Siemens Opcenter Execution is the first release of solutions within the Siemens Opcenter MOM portfolio. These MES solutions are available off the shelf with industry-specific capabilities to support the unique manufacturing requirements of Siemens customers.
Siemens Opcenter Execution Discrete addresses the specific needs of the discrete industries. This version is designed with strong out-of-the-box (OOTB) functions for different manufacturing types, like complex assembly manufacturing and job-shop environments or automated repetitive manufacturing industries. Automotive or aerospace and defense tier suppliers, energy and utilities, industrial machinery and heavy equipment, home appliances, complex parts manufacturing and assembly, … We’ve got your back!
This version enables workforce empowerment, production efficiency, and flexibility and extensibility focusing on integration, connectivity and synchronization along with visibility and traceability of operations and materials.
This is possible thanks to features such as:
• interactive operator guidance through operator landing page
• integrated manufacturing and quality execution
• advanced configurability and modeling of production process and products
• Enhanced work-in-progress visibility
• Restyled user experience (UX)
Connectivity and integration are important objectives of the features in this new version, particularly with scheduling, and with quality.
System flexibility and extensibility relies on interoperability and the capability to integrate components within the Siemens Opcenter portfolio, as well as with other layers of the enterprise. The interoperability supports the vision of Closed Loop Manufacturing, with integration of product planning with Teamcenter, of production execution with Siemens Opcenter Execution and of Business Execution with ERP.
Siemens Opcenter solutions benefit from the availability of Siemens Opcenter Connect, the native interoperability hub based on a manufacturing service bus that facilitates connectivity and integration between products and solutions.
Thanks to Siemens Opcenter Connect version 3.0 of Siemens Opcenter Execution Discrete provides strongly enhanced scheduling capabilities through the tight integration with Advanced Planning and Scheduling. It is possible to schedule at work order level as well as at operations level as the scheduling rules are available to Siemens Opcenter Execution. Integrating these with the equipment model and the work order information allows for a full production schedule proposal including equipment proposal, estimated duration, and start/end times for all orders and their operations.
Integrated Quality Execution
The natively embedded Quality Execution enables operators to manage both manufacturing operations and quality inspections execution from the MES, without switching systems. Quality inspection is performed on all produced items, including measurements, checklists and defect detection. Non-conformances are handled according to a configurable rework processes.
The fact that all data – both quality and process – are now stored centrally in the MES allows to more efficiently contextualize quality relevant data with production data (production orders, lot or batch id), and to provide seamless data management to identify quality relevant trends.
Flexibility and orchestration – Modeling your production environment
Siemens Opcenter Execution Discrete offers OOTB Process Definition, as well as OOTB Tasks for core functionality that can be used as is, modified or substituted with a custom one: material consumption, tool usage, data collection and work instructions, quality inspection. These tasks become visible in the operator landing page, as they get activated by the process definition.
Routing structure enhancement allows for a richer depth of production processes. It is possible to configure information about the products you will produce, the production process and related work operations, and all required resources, such as locations, machines, tools, material definitions, defects and rework codes. Operation steps come with associated certificates and audit trails to trace and prevent unauthorized actions, with skills and configurable constraints on the use of manufacturing tools and equipment, and configurable interlocking checks to validate operation start and completion.
It is also possible to model alternative operation paths within a single process and to define a preferred alternative path. This helps overcome issues or resource bottlenecks.
Interactive instructions and data acquisition screens guide shop floor operators through their assigned tasks during the execution phase, including quality inspection.
Fully in line with the overall Siemens Opcenter strategy for smarter manufacturing new features in this release (version 3.0 ) include use on smart devices, mobility, and integration capabilities to optimize data flows and availability. The unified look & feel is also coordinated with the rest of the broad Siemens Digital Industries Software portfolio (see Teamcenter, Simcenter). The new user interface has a modern, clean, flat design and is adaptive, responsive, harmonized. It creates a comfortable user experience that enables easy understanding, supports mobility, and facilitates the adoption, integration and combination of additional components, supporting growth towards smarter manufacturing.
